A Commitment of Asbon Empowerment Foundation

Preserving Craftsmanship

Protecting the hand-skills — tailoring, weaving, print — that carry generations of African heritage.

What this means in practice

Craft is memory. Every stitch, every kente pattern, every hand-cut lapel carries knowledge passed down through generations. When those skills fade, so does the culture around them. We work to keep that knowledge alive — practiced, taught, respected.

How Asbon approaches it

We teach traditional techniques inside the atelier — pattern-making, hand-finishing, African textile work — and pair learners with makers who carry the craft. We source from communities that still weave and print by hand, and we protect the story of each fabric in the pieces we create.

Craft stories — coming soon

We'll feature the weavers, tailors and makers behind the fabrics and techniques we honor. If you carry a craft you'd like to teach or share, please reach out through the Foundation contact form.
